Precision rifle $89.99 (3hr)
This a intermediate level precision rifle class is designed to give the marksman (both hunter and range shooter) the knowledge and skills necessary to employ their rifle system accurately and effectively at ranges beyond 100 yards.
While prior experience with the precision rifle is not mandatory, each student will be expected to possess and consistently demonstrate basic firearms handling and safety skills during the 3 hour class.
This is not a tactical course nor is it a hunter’s education course. Precision Rifle is designed to provide the student with a solid core foundation of the fundamentals of marksmanship and an understanding of the basic principals and theories required to establish precision at the 100, 200 and 300 ranges.
Please take our “Rifle Sight-In” class if you need to sight-in your rifle and to learn basic fundamentals of marksmanship before taking the Precision Rifle.
There is no time to mount scopes or zero rifles in this class. When you arrive, you will be REQUIRED to have your scope properly mounted and have already established a solid 100 yard zero. You will be required to shoot a three-round group to prove your zero and skills. Failure to meet this requirement will result in you missing a significant part of the live-fire shooting and no refund will be issued.
It is important that your equipment (rifle, scope and ammunition) that you will bring to class consistently meet the accuracy requirements for obtaining full learning potential of the precision rifle course. An acceptable standard is shooting a 1” group at 100 yards. The tightness of the group (the proximity of all the shots to each other) is a measure of the precision of a weapon, and a measure of the shooter's consistency and skill. The distance between the calculated group center and the intended point of aim is a measure of accuracy.
The student should expect low to moderate activity levels during this course. Students may on occasion walk to the 100 yard target line and back to firing line. Shooting will be from the bench.
This course is taught by Hank Humphrey certified precision rifle instructor.
