License To Carry (LTC)
Our LTC class includes all State mandated classroom instruction, in addition you must pass the 25 question exam & demonstrate handgun proficiency with our Licensed Instructor. Total time (all classroom, exam, handgun proficiency, & breaks is approximately 5 to 6 hours). You will receive your Certificate of Training LTC 100 form upon successful completion. Once all training has been successfully completed, you may upload the LTC 100 by visiting the RSD Contact Us page.
All of our License to Carry (LTC) instructors are Texas Department of Public Safety certified License To Carry Instructors, National Rifle Association (NRA) Firearms Instructors & NRA Range Safety Officers. All instructors are current/former law enforcement and/or military & bring tremendous knowledge & experience to the classroom & to the range. They are committed to 1) your safety; 2) delivering the best LTC instruction available in Texas & 3) ensuring you are as prepared as possible for the responsibility of carrying a licensed handgun.
This course is not a “how-to-shoot” class. It is expected that the student has already had significant experience shooting their handgun, including loading, unloading, and can operate the slide or cylinder. During the proficiency test, students will be expected to be safe while handling their firearms which is part of the test. If you are unable to function your firearm or clear jams, you will fail the test. Their is ZERO firearm instruction during the shooting qualification. There is a zero tolerance for unsafe firearm handing, if you point the firearm in a unsafe direction you will fail the test immediately. Students who cannot meet these standards will FAIL the proficiency test & will need to retest at a later date. Re-qualifications are $45.95 and you can only re-qualify during one of our qualification only classes.
